Gaza Crisis: 13 Dead in Israeli Strikes, Ceasefire Violated (2026)

A devastating blow has been dealt to Gaza, with at least 13 lives lost, including five innocent children, according to the region's civil defense agency. This tragic event occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that was supposed to bring an end to the fighting.

The attacks, carried out by Israeli forces, targeted various locations across Gaza. A drone strike on a tent housing displaced individuals in southern Gaza claimed the lives of four people, including three children. In the northern part of the Gaza Strip, an 11-year-old girl lost her life near the Jabalia refugee camp, and a strike on a school resulted in one fatality. Additionally, a drone strike near Khan Younis in the south took the life of a man.

The agency, which operates under Hamas authority, reported that two more Palestinians, including a child, were killed in separate attacks. When approached for comment, the Israeli military stated they were verifying the reports.

As the day progressed, the situation worsened. Four more individuals were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in an eastern area of Gaza City. The spokesperson for the civil defense agency, Mahmud Bassal, confirmed the rising death toll and emphasized the violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli military claimed that a projectile was launched from Gaza City towards Israel but fell within the Gaza Strip. In response, they stated that they had "precisely struck the launch point."

Since October 10th, a US-brokered truce has largely held, but both sides have accused each other of frequent ceasefire violations. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem asserted that the strikes on Thursday "confirm the Israeli occupation's disregard for the ceasefire."

According to Gaza's health ministry, Israeli forces have killed at least 425 Palestinians since the ceasefire took effect. November 22nd marked one of the deadliest days in Gaza since the truce, with at least 21 people losing their lives in Israeli strikes.

In contrast, the Israeli military reported that militants have killed three of their soldiers during this period.

This ongoing conflict raises important questions: How can we ensure the protection of civilians in such situations? What steps can be taken to hold parties accountable for ceasefire violations? Join the discussion and share your thoughts in the comments!
